Grady Ulysses "Gus" Sappington, Jr.

   Grady Ulysses “Gus” Sappington, Jr. of Paducah, KY, formerly of Wolf Lake, IL, died Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah. He was born on August 24, 1961 in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of Grady Ulysses Sappington, Sr. and Ruby Mae (Newton) Sappington. He married Sheila Lucille Smith on March 29, 1991.

    Grady is survived by his wife, Sheila Sappington of Paducah; two daughters, Toni Sappington of Kevil, KY and Sara Rushing of Golconda, IL; his grandchildren, Warren Daylan Seaton and Lilah Kay Seaton; siblings, Marvin Lute, Esther “Cookie” Holderbach, Naomi Lute-Shannon and Jesse Sappington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and a brother, Danny Sappington.

    Grady was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working on things and lending a hand to his friends and family. He liked to fish and treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

    Memorial services for Grady “Gus” Sappington will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Mike Smith officiating. Friends may gather from 3:00 p.m. until the service time at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sappington family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
