April 24, 1933 ~ April 15, 2024 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Leona Mount Obituary

     Leona Carnell Mount, age 90 of Anna, went home to her Lord and Savior, Monday, April 15, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born April 24, 1933 in Dongola, the daughter of Willard C. and Edith (Brewer) McHughes. She married William C. Carnell in September of 1949 and to this union they had three daughters. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1974. She later married Carl V. Mount in November of 1986. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1994.

     Leona is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Kipping of Anna, Brooksie (Michael) Mathis of Danville, IN., Paula (Lyn) Crabtree of Anna; two step-sons, Jimmy Mount and John Mount both of Anna; daughter in law, Rose Carnell of East Peoria; nine grandchildren, Shaun Duty of Anna, Amanda Haynes of Lexington Park, MD, Daryl (Laura) Carnell of Henry, IL, Michelle (Kevin) Cluney of Washington, IL, Angela (Nate) Brandt of Avon, IN, Melissa (Mark) McKleroy of Mobile, AL, Michael (Lauren) Mathis of Raleigh, NC., Andrew (Joby) Crabtree and Caleb (Megan) Crabtree all of Anna; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Katie Edwards of Anna; four half siblings, Johnny McHughes of Cape Girardeau, MO, Cindy (Tony) Quick of Jonesboro, Carol Eslinger of CO, and Polly Quintana of Jonesboro; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; son, William Carnell; great-grandson, Casey Gray; siblings, Carl, Louis, Junior, Russell, Billy McHughes and Louise Gee.

     Leona was a devoted member of Harvest Church in Anna for many years. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook for small group and bible study at church. She worked for over twenty years at Florsheim Shoe factory until they closed and later was the custodian at the First Baptist Church in Anna.

     Leona was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. in Anna. She was a momma bear and adored her family; she remembered everyone’s birthday with a special card. She was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan, so much so that at age 85 she threw out the first pitch at a home game. Leona was a kind and precious soul; she will be missed beyond measure by her family and all who knew her.

     Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Harvest Church in Anna with Pastor Tony Foeller and Matt Crain officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024 at Harvest Church in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Church Building Fund or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home
