Michael H. "Mikey" Myers

     Michael H. “Mikey” Myers, age 76 of Grand Tower, died Thursday, April 4, 2024 at his home. He was born September 14, 1947, in Pontiac, MI, the son of Harry O. and Roma Madrine (Krach) Myers. He married Kathy Tucker on September 15, 1978 in Jackson, MO.  

     Mike is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Myers of Grand Tower; children, Brandon (Sheila) Myers of Grand Tower and Will (Holly) Myers of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Allie, Zoe, Branson Myers, Kiersten Myers, and Addison Cranoe; brother, Randy (Elizabeth) Myers of Vienna; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law, Bill and Mary Tucker.  

     Mike served his country with honor in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service. Mike did a little bit of everything, he farmed in the bottoms and worked out of the Labor Local 773 in Marion for many years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Grand Tower and Tower Rock fire department and served on the Township Board. Mike was a “gear head” he enjoyed going to Street Machine Nationals in Du Quoin, tractor pulls and racing go-karts. He was all about his grandchildren and whatever sports they were playing, he was always there to cheer them on.

     Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Jack Thornton officiating.  Friends may call from 12:00 noon until the service hour of 2:00 pm at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Military funeral honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team in Marion.
