Cecil Dillon of Jonesboro, Illinois, June 28, 1922 – June 22, 2019

     Cecil E. Dillon, age 96 of Jonesboro, died Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Anna. He was born June 28, 1922 in Reynoldsville, the son of James and Alice (Cooper) Dillon.

     Cecil is survived by his son, James Dillon of Carterville; daughter, Janet (Benjie) Dunville of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Cecilia (Chris) Keller, Angie (Billy) Alsip, Keith Goins and Kelsey Goins, Jill (Beau) Bolin, Ryan (Brittney) Dillon; eleven great-grandchildren, Payton and Miles Alsip, Morgan, Evan, Ben and Hayden Keller, Halli and Cade Bolin, Myklyn, Maddox and Maxton Dillon; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters.

     Cecil proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. During his early years he worked for Florsheim Shoe Company, the State of Illinois Public Highway Department, and the City of Jonesboro. He retired from the Secretary of State Anna facility.  

     Cecil was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna, the Union County Farm Bureau and was on the Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department.

     Funeral services will be at 1:30 Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor T.J. Gentry officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery in Anna. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honor Team of Marion. Friends may call after 12:00 p.m. and until the service hour at 1:30 on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran’s Home Activity Fund, the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 Honor Guard or the Veteran’s Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
